I just called Joe Lieberman’s office to complain about his stance on health care. It was fun. You should too. His number is (202) 224-4041 then press 2 to speak to a real staffer.
I explained that I just graduated college and was hospitalized 3 days after graduation. That problem for which I was hospitalized will forever be a pre-existing condition for me. I also already have a pre-existing condition on any problems my knees might have because of a in 7th grade I developed a knee ailment called Osgood-Schlatter disease. The bill might not be perfect, but at least I can get health care on my knees and the rest of my body.
I went on to complain that, as a member of the generation including “his children and his children’s children,” I am personally offended that he is using me and my friends as a scapegoat for why he won’t vote for this bill. Honestly health care is a bigger issue than some theoretically scary scenario of paying higher taxes or having higher national debt in the future.
I ended the call by saying that, since he is claiming to represent my interests, if he doesn’t vote for the bill I would like a response explaining why I didn’t change his mind with this call.
